Farming in Montana

Postby jaredwilliams7824 » Sun Nov 10, 2019 4:44 pm

Any tips or advice on general farming/agriculture in Montana? I am just starting out in learning and it's a very different climate to what I am used to. Just trying to see if there are some things I should cross of the list early (for example I wouldn't imagine tomatoes would do well there)

Also how is the hunting/game situation in general? I've heard of guys getting a deer or two a season and it lasting them a good long while.

Thanks for any help!

I'm in Western Montana. Around here farming means hay.

That'll be nice for the potato beds I want to get started at least. Anything else grow particularly well?

You have to draw a distinction between East of the divide and West of the divide. West, where I live has the best climate and scenery Mostly timbered mountains and smaller valleys. East is cold and dry and windy high plains, miserable winters akin to the Dakotas.
